Holiday Travel Trends I’m Seeing This Season

Holiday Travel Trends I’m Seeing This Season

The bookings, trends and travel ideas everyone’s leaning toward this time of year

By Christine New, Vacation Planners of South Central Florida

Every holiday season has its own energy, and this year I’m seeing some really beautiful trends in how families, couples, and friend groups are choosing to travel. If you’ve been thinking about taking a trip in 2025 or 2026, these patterns might spark an idea or give you the gentle nudge you need to start planning something special.

Families Want To Be Together, Not Just In The Same House

One of the biggest shifts I’m seeing is that families are prioritizing experiences over logistics. Instead of figuring out who is hosting and who is traveling, more families want to meet somewhere relaxing where everyone can enjoy themselves. Cruises, all inclusive resorts, and warm weather getaways are becoming the most popular choices because no one has to clean, cook, or coordinate schedules.

People want time together that feels peaceful, not pressured.

Parents Are Choosing Lighter, Simpler Holidays

Many of my clients are telling me the same thing. They want a holiday that feels like a break, not a marathon. Instead of juggling parties, shopping lists, and endless to do items, they want to spend time making memories with their partner, their kids, or their extended family.

A lot of families are choosing:

  • Long weekends at the beach
  • Holiday cruises
  • Relaxed all inclusive stays
  • Quick getaways that feel luxurious without being complicated

The theme this year is calm, connected, and meaningful.

Clients Are Booking Sooner Than Ever

Another big trend this season is early planning. Families who traveled last year realized how quickly holiday trips fill up, especially cruises with connecting rooms or resorts with family suites. Because of that, many of my clients are planning 12 to 18 months ahead so they can get the exact ship, itinerary, and accommodations they want.

If you’re eyeing a holiday trip for next year, booking early gives you the best options and the best price.

More Clients Want “Non Traditional” Holiday Trips

Not everyone wants snow. Not everyone wants the big family gathering. And not everyone wants to stay home. This year I’m seeing more people choose experiences that feel personal or intentional.

Some of the most popular requests have been:

  • Couples celebrating the holidays in Europe
  • Families choosing Caribbean cruises instead of the usual gift exchange
  • Friends planning warm weather getaways to recharge
  • Parents wanting to start new traditions as their kids get older

There’s something refreshing about creating a holiday that fits who your family is today.

People Are Looking For Value, Not Just Deals

With Wave Season around the corner, I’m seeing clients get more strategic about how they book. They want the best value, the best inclusions, and the best experience. Promotions from cruise lines, early booking perks, and exclusive offers are all helping families stretch their travel budget without sacrificing quality.

It’s not about finding the cheapest option. It’s about finding the smartest one.

Holiday Travel Is About Heart This Year

What I love most about this season is how intentional people are with their travel. The focus is on connection, quality time, joy, and creating memories that feel good long after the decorations are packed away.

No matter how your family celebrates, holidays are a reminder that time together is a gift. And sometimes the best way to honor that gift is by going somewhere that lets everyone slow down and actually enjoy it.
