10 Travel Resolutions for 2026

10 Travel Resolutions for 2026

A new year always brings big intentions, fresh calendars, and that familiar thought: “This is the year we travel more.” And while I fully support that energy, I also know how easy it is for great travel plans to get pushed to “later.”

So let’s do this differently for 2026.

These travel resolutions aren’t about doing more or going bigger just for the sake of it. They’re about traveling smarter, enjoying the planning process, and actually following through on the trips you keep talking about.

1. Plan Earlier Than Feels Necessary

This one solves a lot of problems. Better availability, better pricing, better options, and far less stress. Planning early doesn’t mean committing to everything immediately. It means giving yourself choices instead of leftovers.

2. Use Your Vacation Time Like It’s Meant to Be Used

If you’re saving vacation days “just in case,” consider this your sign. Those days are meant to be enjoyed. Even a short trip can do wonders for your energy and mindset.

3. Try Something New, Even If It’s Just a Little New

A new destination, a different cruise itinerary, or a type of trip you’ve never done before can make travel feel exciting again. New doesn’t have to mean intimidating. It just has to be different enough to feel fresh.

4. Put One Trip on the Calendar Early

Just one. Once something is officially on the calendar, it stops being an idea and starts being real. That alone can make the whole year feel more fun.

5. Stop Waiting for the “Perfect” Time

There’s almost always a reason to wait. Busy schedules, work, kids, timing. The truth is, the perfect time rarely shows up on its own. Sometimes you have to choose the time and make it work.

6. Travel with the People You’ll Actually Enjoy Traveling With

Not every trip has to include everyone. Choose travel companions who make the experience better, not more complicated. That choice alone can change how much you enjoy the trip.

7. Let Someone Else Handle the Details

You don’t get extra credit for planning everything yourself. One of the best resolutions you can make is to let someone else manage the logistics so you can focus on enjoying the experience.

8. Say Yes to Convenience

Direct flights, driving to a cruise port, fewer hotel changes, or guided experiences can make travel feel easier and more relaxing. Convenience isn’t boring. It’s smart.

9. Celebrate Something with a Trip

Birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, or even just making it through a tough year. Travel is one of the best ways to mark meaningful moments.

10. Take the Trip You’ve Been Talking About for Years

You know the one. If it keeps coming up in conversation, there’s a reason. 2026 might be the year to finally turn “someday” into “we’re going.”

Travel doesn’t have to be complicated to be meaningful. A little planning, a little intention, and a willingness to say yes can turn ideas into memories you’ll be glad you made.

If you’re starting to think about travel for 2026 and want help figuring out what makes sense, I’m always happy to talk it through. Sometimes the hardest part is just getting started.
